Okatsune 304 Japanese Thinning Secateurs or Flower Snips With Long Blades

£16.00

These great snips are very light and razor-sharp with long blades (45 mm) specially designed for cutting flowers and herbs, deadheading and thinning.

The blades are very thin and pointed (2.3 mm) allowing you to reach and work in the tightest spaces.

Okatsune 304s are designed for soft stems and aren't suitable for cutting woody stems.

  • Razor sharp for clean cuts
  • Simple design, simple to use and efficient
  • Truly lightweight yet robust and durable
  • Total length: 190mm
  • Blade length: 45mm
  • Blade thickness: 2.3mm
  • Weight: 110g
  • Blade hardness: 59 – 60 HRD (Rockwell Hardness C-scale) meaning they'll stay sharp for longer
  • Izumo Yasugi steel - fine Japanese steel
  • Red and white handles - making them harder to lose

How to look after your Okatsune 304s

The 304s are made from few components, so there's not much you need to do to look after them. A few simple steps will keep them in great condition:

  • clean the blades after use
  • oil them with a light oil occasionally
  • store with blades closed to protect the blades (and you)
  • when they lose their edge, sharpen with a whetstone - the Okatsune Whetstone is designed for the job.

We keep a 50:1 mixture of water and bleach in an old kitchen spray bottle and use this to keep the blades clean of sap build up and to prevent spreading any infections.
