Okatsune Japanese Secateurs No. 104 - General Purpose Pruners

Regular price £45.00 £0.00

The Okatsune 104 Japanese secateurs are the largest of Okatsune's awesome secateurs, suiting gardeners with larger hands.

Okatsune are the No. 1 brand of secateurs in Japan and with very good reason: use them once and you'll never want to use anything else.

Bunny Guinness described them as "life changing" in The Daily Telegraph and we'd agree completely.

Truly razor sharp, Okatsune secateurs cut with a reassuringly positive action and very cleanly - no ragged edges with these.

Okatsune's secateurs are uniquely forged from the best Izumo Yasugi steel, which is traditionally being used for the Katana swords used by the Samurai.

These simple yet strong secateurs, with their specially engineered blade angle, provide a smooth clean cut without crushing. The cutting blade always aligns with the counter blade, even after intensive use and that, combined with the unique locking/unlocking feature allowing you to open and close the secateurs with one hand, delivers a superb tool well-loved by professional and amateur gardeners alike.

  • Length: 210mm
  • General purpose: max. cut diameter: 25mm
  • Blade length: 55mm

How to look after your Okatsune 104s

The 104s are made from few components, so there's not much you need to do to look after them. A few simple steps will keep them in great condition:

  • clean the blades after use
  • oil them with a light oil occasionally
  • store with blades closed to protect the blades (and you)
  • when they lose their edge, sharpen with a whetstone - the Okatsune Whetstone is designed for the job.

TIP No. 1 - to open and close them just hold in your hand and brush the catch against you leg - forwards to unlock, back to lock.

TIP No. 2 - keep the blades clean with a weak bleach/water mixture (1 of bleach to 50 of water). We keep some in a spray bottle. Wire wool works wonders at giving them a really good clean or to remove stubborn resin or sap build up.

Red and white handles make them harder to lose.

Simple, robust and razor sharp.
