The axe we've been waiting for!
We've just received the very first batch of Robin Wood's Large Carving Axes and we're just a little bit excited by them.
Developed and made by Robin Wood and his daughter, JoJo, in Sheffield.
As with all his tools, Robin has put in all the knowledge from his 25 years of using, forging and teaching tools into this axe.
The result is an exceptional carving axe. The head is the same size has his Woodland axe but is ground to have flat bevels. The extra weight makes for fast work and the knurled handle gives control and confidence.
Most importantly the axe is super sharp and has flat bevels which give control to your cuts.
The axe heads are ground and honed by Brian Alcock, the last professional grinder in Sheffield.
The handles are Hickory and have a knurled finish for enhanced grip and control and are treated with linseed oil.
Not only for carving, these axes are also great for felling small trees, kindling splitting, bushcraft or camp use. They'd be particularly good for hedge laying.

We sell these axes with a sheath to protect their edge (and you). The leather comes from Clayton's of Chesterfield who have been tanners since 1848.
They're made from top quality, 5mm thick, vegetable tanned leather and an extra piece of leather runs down the centre protecting the axe blade from the rivets.
The sheaths normally retail at £17.50 but are included with the axe for £11. We don't sell them separately.
Under UK legislation, axes are an age restricted product and can't be sold or supplied to anyone under 18. If you pay by credit card we'll take it that you're over 18. You can, of course, pay by Paypal and other means but we'll contact you before sending out your axe to ask for proof of age - this will need to be a scan of your passport, driving licence etc.
